Calling "911" is specifically used for emergency situations where an immediate response is required from public safety personnel. For public safety assistance In Virginia Beach that is not an emergency or calls that originate from outside the calling area, dial (757) 385-5000.

We love to have our community come spend the day with us to see what life is like as a first responder in the City of Virginia Beach. Ride Alongs/Observer Shifts are scheduled through the Virginia Beach Department of EMS. Information, including scheduling, can be found here.
VB Rescue and CBVRS are emergency services only, we do not provide non-emergent medical transport (like to a doctor’s appointment from your home or transport home from the hospital). Local commercial ambulance companies for Virginia Beach can be found here.
Official records including patient care reports/medical records and emergency/incident reports are maintained through the City of Virginia Beach Department of Emergency Medical Services. CBVRS does not maintain these records and cannot access them for you. Please visit VBEMS here to request copies of your medical records and other administrative paperwork.
CBVRS is 100% volunteer, and we have no paid personnel in our organization. The City of Virginia Beach Department of EMS does employ career operational and administrative staff, including Advanced EMTs and Paramedics. Career opportunities with VBEMS can be found here.
